INSTRUCTIONAL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
In instructional classes teachers take the time to introduce and explain new postures as well as their benefits, risks, and possible modifications. Questions are encouraged.
- Introduction to Yoga: A four week course
A safe introduction for newcomers. Learn the foundation of traditional hatha yoga postures and breath control. Designed to begin building strength, stamina, flexibility and concentration. INSTRUCTOR: Amy Next start date:May 5th..... Classes held at new location: 150 Glen Cove Marina Rd. #103. - Level I
Refine your postures and begin learning vinyasas, some inversions, as well as Sun Salutation B which includes chataranga dandasana and upward facing dog. Appropriate for individuals with some knowledge of yoga. - Level II
Begin to explore headstand, back bend, half lotus position, hip openers, seated poses and balancing postures. Invigorating. Recommended for those with a good foundation in yoga. - Level III
Explore seated balancing postures, full lotus, and full bridge poses as well as bound twisted poses and more invigorating arm balances. This is a demanding class and extended prior experience in yoga is required.
PRACTICE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Practice classes are flowing. Teachers guide you into and out of poses. Please reserve your questions for the end of class.
- Ashtanga Yoga: Primary (1st) Series
This hour and half class guides you through the traditional Ashtanga Yoga first series of postures. Very Demanding and not for the faint of heart. Come prepared to sweat as we literally turn up the heat and do many vinyasas. - Power Yoga
Come prepared to sweat! This is an invigorating, flowing class. Not recommended for beginners or those unfamiliar with Sun Salutation B. Starting May 2nd~New time: 6-7:30pm - Sunrise Yoga
Awaken and revitalize! An exciting and invigorating class for all. *Please be advised, the instructor may guide you into safer alternative postures. *Starting May 3rd~ New time 8-9:30am. 1st class is an outdoor Yoga Hike. Check out Workshop Page. - Level I-III
This mixed level flowing class is great for experienced practitioners and students comfortable with Sun Salutations and traditional standing and seated postures. Postures are adapted to suit students abilities. INSTRUCTOR: Amy - Hatha Yoga
Traditional asanas are held in accurate alignment. Emphasis is placed on core strength, flexibility and balance as well as concentration and breath control This class is based on physical postures (asanas), deep breathing, mindfulness and listening to the body. All levels are welcome. - Slow Flow
Vinyasa, only slower. Deeply physical, but spiritual too. This class will make you sweat & invite you to surrender to what is. - Moon Worship
A spirtual counterbalance to the Sun Salutation. This class cools and calms the nervous system while lending itself to wonderful hip opening postures. Appropriate for men and women alike. Beneficial to women who are pregnant, menstrating and in menopause.
SPECIAL SERIES OR DROP-IN CLASSES
- Baby and Me
This class is a wonderful opportunity for exercise and baby bonding. Moms, Dads, Guardians and their babies from ages 2 months to 1 year (there may be a little flexibility here~ please call or email questions) are invited. This is a special series. 6 classes~$65. Drop in~$14 Tuesdays from 12:15-1:15. April 22nd-July 8th. - Yoga for Teachers
A class designed with you in mind! Amy Raupach, owner and instructor of Adara Yoga knows just what you need. Before she became a yoga instructor she was an elementary school teacher for seven years. She understands your needs for stress relief and physical exercise. Join her for this class and find yourself in a place of harmony and peace. Give yourself permission to release, relax, stretch, strengthen and tone your body and mind. This is a special series. $65~5 classes (any Thursday between 5/1-7/3). $14~Drop In. Thursdays 4:15-5:30pm. May 1st-July 3rd.
